How long will Simfund 3.0 be available?
You are not required to upgradet to Simfund VA 5.0 until your contract renewal date.
Do I have to re-install Simfund VA 5.0 in order to upgrade?
Yes. Each user will have to re-install Simfund VA 5.0.
How much disk space does Simfund VA 5.0 require?
- Stand Alone: 2 GB
- Network Replicated: 2 GB local & 2GB on the network
- Network Non-replicated: 100 MB local & 2 GB on the network
Can I open Simfund VA 3.0 reports, grids, lists and batch jobs compatible in Simfund VA 5.0?
Yes, you can still use your old Simfund project files with the new version of Simfund so please be sure to back them up before you uninstall Simfund VA 3.0.
Each Simfund project file (*.SPF) requires a .CDX and .FPT file of the same name for it work properly. For example: Project01.spf requires a Project01.cdx and Project01.fpt in order for the project file to work. These files should be found and should always be placed in the same directory location as the .SPF file.
What are the installation types for Simfund VA 5.0?
The 3 installation types for Simfund 4.0 remain unchanged. They are:
- Stand-Alone
- Network replicated
- Network non-replicated
Will the update process remain the same?
Yes. The update process will remain unchanged
Do I have to reactivate Simfund VA 5.0?
Users will need to activate their Simfund for use with each Simfund database update. Currently machines are activated upon first use. This process was instituted to comply with licensing agreements with our third party data vendors. The monthly activation removes the burden from our clients from having to manually contact Strategic Insight every time Simfund is installed on or removed from a computer. For most users the automated monthly activation process takes about 10 seconds after the initial activation.
Can we package the installation?
The new installation process contains .MSI script for easier client computer distribution.
Can we run Simfund VA 5.0 on Citrix?
No. Because Simfund accesses some programs exclusively, users can not run the appliation off of the same executable.
